In the mid-eighties, the Japanese AMADA Group decided to establish a production site for bi-metal band saw blades and press brake tooling in Europe. After a thorough investigation of all the possible sites, AMADA chose the one in Lower Austria - in the town of Ternitz, about 60 km south of Vienna.
After completion of the construction phase from 1986 until mid-1987 and after installation and commissioning of the manufacturing plant, the large-scale automated production of bi-metal band saw blades was started in July 1987.
In October 1988, the production of press brake tools for sheet metal working was started.
In the spring of 2001 work began on the development of the works in Ternitz with the objective of creating a new prodction line for the manufacture of carbide-tipped band saw blades alongside the existing product group of bi-metal band saw blades. Production of carbide-tipped band saw blades was successfully launched in the spring of 2003.
