The apprenticeship is a modern vocational training programme and combines practice-oriented training with the teaching of specialist theoretical knowledge and key skills. It is open to all young people who have completed nine years of compulsory schooling.
Apprenticeship training is practice-orientated and takes place in the company. In addition, theoretical lessons take place in blocks over several weeks at the vocational school ("dual training").
An apprenticeship at AMADA lasts three, three and a half or four years, depending on the chosen apprenticeship, and concludes with the final apprenticeship examination.
Training at the company provides the skills and knowledge required to work as a skilled worker. Apprenticeship training trains excellent skilled workers who are indispensable as pillars of every company.
The Vocational Training Act (BAG) contains the relevant legal regulations.
The great advantage of the dual system is the constant further development of training regulations and the development of new apprenticeships. This makes it possible to react to the requirements of the economic and labour market and to offer training courses in line with demand.
Modular apprenticeships: Since 2006, it has been possible to train in modular apprenticeships.
In a modular apprenticeship, several main modules are set up on the basis of a common basic module. After the basic and main modules, more in-depth training can be completed in a non-mandatory specialisation module. Modular apprenticeships offer a more flexible organisation of training and improved combination options, easier recognition of previously acquired qualifications and, thanks to the special modules, a better response to industry requirements.
